Why I Built SignallyRadio

June 20, 2026

I grew up on radio.

Not just music — radio. The kind where you turned the dial, landed on a station, and had no idea what was coming next. That surprise was part of the fun.

Back in my hometown of Lexington, Kentucky, one station that stands out in my memory is WFMI 100. What I loved was the mix. On a single station, I could hear Michael Jackson, Poison, Madonna, Run-DMC, Whitney Houston, and just about everything in between.

It was unpredictable in the best way.

Sometimes you heard something familiar. Sometimes you heard something strange. And every now and then, you heard a song that made you stop and think, “Wait — who is this?”

I miss that kind of discovery.

Today’s streaming music services are amazing. You can find almost any song instantly, build playlists, and let recommendation engines suggest what you might like next. But sometimes those suggestions feel too predictable, shaped mostly by what a computer already thinks you are.

That is one reason I built SignallyRadio.

SignallyRadio is my attempt to bring back some of that old radio magic, but with the reach of today’s internet. Instead of being limited to stations in one city, listeners can explore sounds from across the globe — jazz, soul, rock, Afrobeats, electronic, world music, talk, and so much more.

Music should not always arrive in a neat algorithmic box. Sometimes it should surprise you. Sometimes it should stretch your ears. Sometimes it should introduce you to something you never would have searched for on your own.

SignallyRadio is for people who still like to wander, click around, and discover.

Because sometimes the best song is not the one you searched for.

Sometimes it is the one that finds you.

Your next favorite station may already be on the air.
